3 WAYS TO HAVE SLEEP SUCCESS FOR BACK TO SCHOOL!

As the end of the summer nears, kids all over the country are getting ready to head back to school. Most parents will purchase new school supplies, new clothes, and new shoes in preparation for the start of a new school year. But it’s also essential to ensure your kids get restful nights of sleep as they head back to school. Research has shown that poor sleep results in lower school success, including more moodiness, behavioral challenges, and increased daytime drowsiness. So, how can you ensure your kids are set up for sleep success? Here are three things you can do:

1 - Start adjusting to a new bedtime schedule now
If your kids are enjoying summer holidays by staying up late and sleeping in, now is an excellent time to adjust their schedules. Move their bedtime up by 15 minutes every couple of days and wake them up 15 minutes earlier. This will ensure they are getting the same amount of sleep while still working towards a schedule that will reflect their school days.

2 - Turn off screens
We all know the impact that screens have on our sleep, so this goes for kids too. Turn screens off for at least an hour before bedtime and cozy up with a nice book, a hot bath, or a quiet board game before bed. Why not share a story about sheep or wool?

3 - Give them the right bedding
Our Canadian-made wool duvets and pillows are exactly what every kid (and adult!) needs for a restful sleep. They resist dust mites and allergens and are stain and odour-resistant (no more yellow, stinky pillows!). In addition, wool bedding actually wicks away moisture and regulates the body temperature so your kids can sleep comfortably all night long. It’s the perfect bedding to help your kids sleep soundly.

Getting back into the routine and schedule of back to school can be stressful—new teachers, new classrooms, and for some, new schools. But, don’t let lousy sleep play a factor in your children’s days. Remember, restful sleep equals productive days!
