4 Reasons to Use Wool this Summer (and One Bonus!)

4 Reasons to Use Wool this Summer (and One Bonus!)

Yes. You read that right! While wool is known for its coziness and warmth, there are a lot of other wool properties that you may not know about - specifically properties that are beneficial in the summer months!

Not only does buying 100% natural wool products support local fiber farmers, but it allows you to be more sustainable and environmentally conscious by having one product that you can use all year.

4 Reasons to why wool is beneficial in the summer:

  1. Temperature regulating. This means that you don’t need to sacrifice comfort in the warm months. The fibers in wool allow wool products to breathe, where synthetic materials can’t and trap heat in. There’s nothing like still being able to still use good bedding after a long and tiring day in the sun.

  2. Moisture wicking properties are great for sleeping and anywhere else you use wool. Wool will wick away moisture from your skin, leaving you dryer on warm nights, but still dries quickly. Because of the speed wool wicks away moisture and evaporates, it is also great at removing odours before they start. Not only do we love our wool pillows for this, but also why you’ll find wool insoles in our shoes all year round.

  3. Wool is hypoallergenic! In a season when allergies are peaking - weeds, trees, pollen, bugs (you name it!) - being comfortable can feel like an impossible feat. Using wool can make your bedding the last thing you need to worry about. The dry environment from the moisture wicking properties makes an undesirable environment for fungus, dust mites, and bacteria.

  4. And of course, it’s camping and campfire season! Just because it’s summer, doesn’t mean we don’t need a little extra heat every now and then. When we’re camping, we like to use a wool felt yoga/camping mat as an extra layer of warmth and cushion underneath for sleeping. On the chilly nights under the stars a wool blanket and Finke wool slippers are still there to keep you warm. An extra benefit is that wool is naturally fire resistant making it perfect for fireside cuddles with little ones.

Now for the bonus reason: using wool year round takes away that extra step of spring and fall cleaning. When you start to use wool year round it takes one thing off of your plate for transitioning with the weather. Who doesn’t want to simplify their task list - even just a little bit.

There is a long list of why wool is a great addition to any lifestyle, but the next time you think about “putting away your wool for the summer”, be sure to think about this list and remember how 100% pure wool products are a perfect fit even in the heat.
