4 Ways Wool Can Help You Be More Productive

Summer break has ended, the leaves are slowly changing, and kids are back in school - now’s your chance to take a little time to focus on you! What better time to spark creativity and productivity and give your home or office a rejuvenation using - you guessed it - wool.

  1. Air quality plays a vital role in productivity; it affects your energy, stress levels, your cognitive function, and your overall health and well being. Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are becoming more prominent in our daily lives. VOCs are commonly found in a variety of products and materials and are concerning for indoor air quality. Wool can help to combat VOCs in your home through natural absorption and by regulating humidity. The natural property of wool has a porous structure that can trap and hold dust and indoor pollutants (like VOCs!). Also, by absorbing and releasing moisture, wool can reduce the likelihood of VOCs being released (which are influenced by humidity levels).
  2. Comfort. For me, feeling the right temperature in my work space makes all the difference in my productivity. Feeling too hot or too cold can affect concentration and energy levels. I always keep a pair of wool slippers on, to help regulate my body temperature when I’m too hot or too cold, and a wool blanket nearby for when there is a chill in the air.
  3. Just because kids are back in school doesn’t mean there isn’t a need for sound absorption in your home or office. Wool has excellent acoustic properties, helping to dampen sound and reduce noise levels, which can create a quieter and more focused work environment.
  4. Who can forget about the aesthetic appeal of wool! Wool has a luxurious feel and can add composure to any space. It offers calming colours and a tactile experience that provides comfort with touch. Add to the room’s energy with a few plants that have also been known to help with air quality!

Our work space can often be the last place we think to enhance, even though it occupies much of our time and demands some of our greatest concentration. Coincidently, it is also one of the last places you would think it’s important to use wool. Knowing that wool can help improve air quality, comfort, sound absorption, and add to your aesthetic, makes it a great time to give your home or office a refresh.
