November is here! And with it comes a busy month for us as farmers and business owners, with conferences, markets, and one event that “brings the country to the city” year over year. That’s right, we’re heading back to Toronto! Revolution Wool Company will be back at the 2025 Royal Agricultural Winter Fair!
Our space this year is going to look a little different from our conventional market booth, and we’re really excited about it. We’ve decided to join forces with WoolGrown Company, Ste. Marg Scot, Ontario Fibreshed and Ontario Sheep Farmers! There is also so much going on for sheep and wool at the fair this year, that no matter what day you attend there will always be something to see.
What does that mean for visitors?
You’ll be able to find us in Booth 3907. That means you can find us nuzzled in between the Northern Ontario Agri-Food Pavilion and the Dairy Education Centre. We’ll be on the edge of the Farm to Table Discovery Zone and just a short walk away from the Small Animal Pavilion (I’ll tell you why that’s exciting below!). I know - this is all great if you’re familiar with the layout at the Royal; for those who are less familiar I’ve included a map below, and here is a link to the show guide.
At our Canadian Wool & Sheep Space, you’ll be able to learn about all things sheep and fibre in Ontario and talk to some volunteers who are enthusiasts about Ontario fibre to their core! We will have our hands on wool education display for any one who wants to understand the stages of wool after it’s shorn, and learn about anything sheep. We’ll also have some of our favourite 100% Canadian wool products on hand if you’re looking to take some items home with you - such as our Canada inspired wool blankets, cozy items to keep you warm this winter, and pure wool pillows in our new zippered pillow cases. I always love showcasing our pillows, since it lets you get a really hands on feel for the pillow that is right for you! And you can see for yourself how simple and natural they are: just wool and cotton.
The booth will be exploding with passion, as the space welcomes Sasha from Ste.Marg.Scot, and Lindsey from WoolGrown Company and some of their items as well.
Other Sheep and Wool Focuses at The Royal for 2025
If you’re looking to hear a little more from us, you can see us on the Growth Hub Stage in Hall A with our session representing Ontario Fibreshed, Ontario Sheep Farmers, and Campaign for Wool Canada titled Hands-On with Wool: The Original Sustainable Fibre. The time for the session on the Growth Hub Stage in Hall A are:
- Friday November 14 at 5:00 pm
- Saturday November 15 at 4:00 pm
- Sunday November 16 at 3:00 pm
We will also be speaking at the Canadian Wool Conversations Convention hosted at the RAWF by The Campaign for Canadian Wool about our trip this past summer to France where we got to learn about wool at an international scale and represent the Canadian wool market. Anna Hunter, of Long Way Homestead, will also be speaking at this event about her book, The True Cost of Wool. If you don’t know Anna, I encourage you to follow her at @LongWayHomestead and see her perspective as a sheep farmer in Manitoba.
Just a short walk away from our booth, near the Small Animal Pavilion, you will also be able to see some wool focused demonstrations and competitions! There are sheep shearing and spinning demos happening daily at the show, as well as sheep showing and wool based competitions. The schedule for these demonstrations are:
- Shearing Demo: Daily at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm in the Small Animal Pavilion
- Wool Spinning Demo: Daily in the Rotunda, just between the Small Animal Pavilion and the Cattle Barns
- Sheep Shows: Thursday November 13th to Sunday November 16 in the Small Animal Pavilion (schedule can be found here)
- Wool Spinning Competition: Sunday November 16, 2025 9:00 am & 3:00 pm in the Rotunda
-
Sheep to Shawl Competition: Sunday November 16, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm (judging at 1:00 pm) also in the Rotunda.
This competition highlights teams who created a finished shawl from wool that they sheared, cleaned, spun, and wove! There is even an auction for the winning shawl.
A few other sheep and wool based vendors at the show this year are:
- Art work by the talented Megan Cleland from The Line of Fibre in the Made by Me section
- Wave Fibre Mill in the Northern Ontario Pavilion
- Walkabout Farm, with their delicious sheep cheese, in the Northern Ontario Pavilion
Here are some of my insider tips from the time I’ve spent at The Royal
- As with any show, it’s always better to get there early! Not only for parking, but - believe it or not - there is a calmness to the show when it just opens that is great for starting a busy day
-
Are the butter tarts worth the line up? Yes. The Queen's Tarts know what they’re doing. BUT my favourite sweet treat at the Royal? Howie's Fresh Hot Cinnamon Rolls. They're warm, gooey, and made right in front of you.
- Either are best enjoyed after looking at the impressive, and mouth watering, Gay Lea Butter Sculptures that are showcased every year
- As a farm kid myself, I love seeing everyone taking in the Education Centres. There is so much to see and learn, and I enjoy this space that fellow farmers have to share their knowledge with others.
-
The Royal Horse Show: it’s world class for a reason. There are many ways to take it in, and it’s truly a bucket list experience. The dedication and skill honed by the competitors and their animals year over year is truly impressive!
- I also love the Royal Rodeo, which might be what they mean when they say "save the best for last". It's on the last day of the show and always a packed event!
- Of course, I alway enjoy the time catching up with our fellow farmers in the barns and shopping other amazing local vendors, including our friend Michelle at Durnin Farm and Ranchwear.
That’s my Royal Roundup! I know it’s a lot to take in but there is so much to see and do that I don’t want to miss sharing a thing! If there is anything I’ve missed, or any products of ours that you’d like to see at the booth, just let me know!
