Our wool pillow inserts offer natural support and comfort for any space. Perfect for throw pillows, as cushion filler, for bolsters, or even a yoga pillow, these pillow fillers are ready for you to customize them with your own cover to match your style.

These pillows are filled with 100% all-natural wool, set to be firm with a slightly chunky feel, making them ideal as throw pillow inserts. Over time you can remove the cushion filling and plump up the wool to revitalize the fluffy feeling of the pillow insert. Follow our care guide below for instructions on how to clean and freshen up your pillow inserts.

Our pillow filler is made with 100% pure wool from our family farm, with a 100% cotton case. The wool in all our pillows is locally grown, milled, and crafted in Ontario, Canada, supporting Canadian fiber farmers.

Care Guide

Caring for your wool pillow insert is easy. Please ensure you follow these instructions as carefully as possible, it is important to always use only lukewarm water, be gentle, and never agitate the wool in your pillow filler. This will cause the wool cushion filler to felt and become clumpy.

Regular maintenance for your pillow insert


Recommend every 1-3 months.

Zippered throw pillow inserts

  1. Remove the wool pillow filling, unfold, and air out in the sunshine (outside or indoors). Some natural oils from the sheep remain in the wool after processing and you may notice a gentle scent. 
    Tip: We love adding a few drops of essential oils (our favourite is lavender) for added freshness 
  2. Wash cotton casing with regular laundry 
  3. Wool pillows naturally compress 20 to 30%; for the original loft you can fluff the wool or remove some filling to suit your unique needs before folding and placing back in the cotton casing.  

Removing the wool cushion filling for non-zippered pillows 

  1. Open a generous seam in the side of the pillow to remove the wool filling
  2. After performing steps 1-3 above 
  3. Resew the open seam used to remove the wool filling.

Deep cleaning for pillow inserts


Recommended only for spills or when your pillow is very dirty.

  1. Keep wool pillow filling inside the cotton casing 
  2. Fill a large sink or bath with lukewarm water adding a small amount of only wool Eucalan detergent. It is important to use wool-specific detergent when washing wool for a proper clean and condition.
  3. Gently press your pillow insert to submerge, and allow to soak for 15 min
  4. Repeat a gentle pressing and squishing motion up and down in the water. Ensure you never agitate wool, this will cause the wool to felt and become clumpy!
  5. Rinse with lukewarm water and repeat the same gentile squishing motion until water runs clear.
  6. Squeeze out as much water as possible from your cushion filler, use a towel to remove excess. 
  7. Remove the pillow filling, unfold and hang to air dry. Machine dry cotton casing with regular laundry.
